Security Solutions

Comprehensive security assessments, high-security hardware, and targeted upgrades for homes and businesses throughout Johnson County. We identify vulnerabilities and fix them.

Comprehensive Security Solutions in Johnson County

Most homes and businesses have at least one entry point that a determined person could defeat in under a minute. A hollow-core door with a standard deadbolt, a strike plate secured with half-inch screws, a sliding glass door with no secondary lock — these are the vulnerabilities burglars look for and exploit first. Same Day Locksmith identifies them and closes them.

We approach security practically: assess what's there, identify what's weak, and recommend the minimum targeted upgrades that get you meaningfully more protected. No unnecessary upselling, no one-size-fits-all packages. What your property needs is what we recommend.

Security Consultations

Free on-site walkthrough of your property. We assess entry points, existing hardware, lighting, visibility, and any specific concerns. You receive a written summary of vulnerabilities and a prioritized upgrade list — no obligation.

High-Security Lock Upgrades

Replace standard cylinders with Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, or ASSA ABLOY hardware. These locks resist picking, bumping, and drilling — attack methods that defeat standard locks in seconds. We install to manufacturer specification.

Multi-Point Locking Systems

Secure doors at three or more frame points simultaneously — top, middle, and bottom. Multi-point systems distribute forced-entry load across the entire frame, making kick-in attacks dramatically more difficult and time-consuming.

Security Camera Integration

We coordinate lock and access control hardware with your camera system for a unified security posture. We advise on camera placement relative to entry points and can work alongside your camera installer for a complete integrated setup.

Door & Frame Reinforcement

A high-security lock on a weak door frame is still a weak system. We upgrade strike plates, install door jamb armor, add door barricade hardware, and reinforce hollow-core doors — the physical layer that makes locks effective.

Restricted Keyway Programs

Switch to a patented restricted keyway that can only be duplicated by authorized dealers with proper identification. Ideal for any property where key control matters — prevents unauthorized copies being made at hardware stores.

The Security Layers That Actually Matter

Effective security isn't about having the most expensive lock — it's about having no weak links. A $400 high-security cylinder on a hollow-core door with a single half-inch screw in the strike plate is still easy to defeat. Security works in layers, and we assess all of them.

Physical Deterrence

Visible security hardware — quality deadbolts, reinforced strike plates, door viewers, and security signage — deters opportunistic attempts before they happen. Most residential break-ins are opportunistic, not planned. A door that looks hardened often gets passed over in favor of an easier target.

Forced Entry Resistance

When deterrence isn't enough, the hardware needs to hold. Multi-point locking systems, ANSI Grade 1 deadbolts, and reinforced door frames significantly increase the time and effort required for forced entry. Time is the most important factor — the longer an entry attempt takes, the higher the risk for the attacker and the greater the chance of intervention.

Key Control

Standard keys can be duplicated at any hardware store. Restricted keyway systems require dealer authorization and ID for duplication — giving you a documented record of every key in circulation. Combined with rekeying when occupancy changes, restricted keyways close the key duplication vulnerability entirely.

Access Logging

For businesses and multi-tenant properties, electronic access control adds an audit layer — a complete record of who accessed which door and when. This is both a security tool and a liability management tool. When something goes wrong, you have data.

Security Solutions FAQ

What does a security consultation involve?

A free on-site walkthrough of your property. We assess entry points, existing hardware, lighting, visibility, and any specific concerns you have. We then give you a written summary of vulnerabilities and a prioritized list of recommended upgrades — no obligation to proceed. Call (913) 530-9874 to schedule.

What makes a high-security lock different from a standard lock?

Standard locks can be picked, bumped, or drilled in seconds with tools available at any hardware store. High-security locks from Medeco and Mul-T-Lock use hardened steel components, complex pin configurations, anti-pick pins, anti-drill plates, and restricted keyways that prevent unauthorized key duplication. They meet ANSI Grade 1 standards and are significantly harder to defeat by any method.

What is a multi-point locking system?

A multi-point lock secures a door at three or more points along the door frame simultaneously — typically at the top, middle, and bottom — when the handle is lifted or the key is turned. This distributes force across the entire frame rather than concentrating it at a single bolt point, making forced entry significantly more difficult. Multi-point systems are standard on European doors and increasingly common in high-security residential and commercial installations.

Do you integrate with existing security cameras?

Yes. We coordinate access control and lock hardware installations with your existing camera infrastructure, or advise on camera placement as part of a comprehensive security upgrade. We work with your camera installer or can recommend local partners for a complete integrated system.
